Biography: Berto ZGuitars, Pedal Steel and Mandolin
Gary began his musical career in the 1970’s on the east coast, playing with bands such as Wuud, Taxi and GBF Marks as well as some solo work in clubs. He moved to California in 1980, following the call of music. Offering a mix of covers and originals with such projects as Nite Squad, Operator and Monkeybone, he performed in Gazzari’s on Sunset, the Ice House in Pasadena and many others.
A few years later, Gary discovered the tribute band scene and has worked in quite a few projects, including Deja Vu (CSN), Heart of Gold (Neil Young), Come and Get It (Badfinger) and 4 Way Street (CSNY). When he spoke with 4 Way Street band mate Jim Wootten about starting an Eagles tribute, they discovered The Long Run and ended up joining the project in 2004.
Gary writes and records original music when he’s not on the road with The Long Run, and has contributed several tracks to the Exile Collection project as well as several self-released tracks. He’s been known to sit in with Denny Gerard's Neil Deal and has played banjo and mandolin with Led Zepagain. Gary also operates a musical instrument repair service, which comes in handy with the number of guitars the band uses.
